Inner Wheel Club of Christchurch West's donation for beautiful and colorful woolen goodies to Plunket and appreciation from them.

Members of IW Club of Riccarton kept themselves busy during the lockdown with a number of activities.

	Wishing the Inner Wheel Club of Riccarton will get together soon. Averill at the Lions Wishing Well, Lake Tekapo on 4th September. (IWNZ Day)
	Hannie ordered a vege box that really challenged her and she made daikon pickles. It turns out, are really delicious.
	Jan our wonderful knitter from the Y Gym with her latest selection of colour coded granny squares. Jocelyn has since joined the squares into a big beautiful blanket.
	Janet and the boys taken last week when the three of them made Lolly cake for their Dad’s Father’s Day present. They were as proud as punch!!! They made the cards to go with the cake and had a lovely time putting everything together.

Jocelyn knitted hats for big grand daughters and a small one for a little friend. She also finished rugs waiting to go to Plunket.

	Cecile started this Christmas wall hanging in January thinking it would take a year to do. Lockdown was a sort of blessing as it had got well behind schedule. The loom has made lots of rugs over the years but this one is using embroidery cottons instead of wool. 98 knots to the row. 187 completed—half way there but no more Lockdowns please!
	On Sunday Margaret and Keith went to look at the daffodils in the gardens. They parked by Helmores Lane and walked only to find the gates locked. However, walking along the path between the river and carpark they spotted newly planted Magnolias just coming into flower in this beautiful deep wine colour .
	Margaret made good use of the time spent watching the ParaOlympics by knitting cardigans and beanies for Catherine’s midwife friend Mary.

	Last Lockdown everyone was looking for yeast to make bread. Have you made some yummy fresh loaves this time round?
	Myra noted these daffodils on her daily walk admiring the progress of spring.

Thanks to the generosity of the band of knitters the club has been able to distribute knitting and crochet items. These were all donated in the three months prior to lockdown. That is a fabulous job well done. Thanks everyone. 

The items were donated to Maternity Ward, Barnados, Mummys in Need, Plunket, Men’s Shelter, St Vincent / Women’s Refuge and they are still gathering items for Midwives.

Plunket were very pleased to receive all these knitted and crocheted items. It is amazing where all this knitting comes from. This was before Lockdown so we can only guess what has been made by our industrious ladies over the last few weeks. Lots and lots of hours have gone into these lovely pieces. They are very much appreciated by those who receive them. 

Judy and Liz from IW Club of Parahaki Whangarei have been making masks and the Bin Inn at Kamo have been selling them. The proceeds are used to buy food for the SPCA.

What a wonderful initiative to add impact in this Covid world and also funraising.

Pink Morning Tea to raise funds for Look Good Feel Better, which is a free community-based programme that provides cancer-affected women (and men) with techniques to look after their skin, along with practical tips and tools on makeup application to increase confidence. The class includes relaxation breathing techniques and advice for those experiencing hair loss. After morning tea, members settled in to make bunnies with skilled crafter Laurie Breadmore at the helm. There was also great excitement at the beginning of the month as our brand-new banner (purchase assisted by an extremely welcome IW grant) arrived and had its first airing at the committee meeting. Committee members toasted the banner – and the organisation – with glasses of bubbly, both alcoholic and non-alcoholic.

On 20th Oct, 2021 IW Club of Christchurch West hosted a Pink morning tea today raising funds to support the Pink Ribbon Breast Cancer Appeal. The room was a scene of Pink! 

Their host was our member Kathleen Burford at her lovely home with members and friends of their Club. The delicious food was provided by the Committee. They raised $500 NZD for the Appeal with the raffle being donated by our member Jude Holland.

A lovely morning of Fellowship and Friendship. 

It was only 3 degrees on St. Chad’s Car Park on Saturday the 3rd July, when a hardy bunch of IW members started to set up their stall. Unloading and unpacking boxes soon warms one up ! They positioned themselves in a different spot to get the sunshine when it finally arrived, which it did midmorning and then they had to start peeling off our winter layers. Cups of coffee and good company meant the morning passed quickly and easily. The cold days kept the numbers of shoppers down but they still managed to raise nearly $300 - so not too bad. Many thanks to everyone for their donations, items and baking and to the club members for organizing this event.

IW Club of Tautahi Canterbury had the great pleasure of hearing special guest Herb de Vries speak at last month's meeting. An Associate Professor from University of Canterbury and published researcher, he gave a fascinating and educational presentation of his current research programme, Refugee employment, unemployment & entrepreneurship with a focus on challenges and opportunities. They had an almost full turnout, and we were fully engaged, with many questions and discussions happening.

IW Club of Tautahi Canterbury, at their friendship meeting this month they went to the NZ Museum of Toys and Collectibles with Diane, Raelyn, Robina, Carmel, Deb, Norelly, Jo, Karen, Viv & Vanja. This was such a fabulous place for a meet-up. A real walk down memory lane, it also allowed them to exchange personal stories such as: toys we used to have, toys our kids/parents/grand-parents played with, places we visited , cars they drove along with what family cars they had, movies and tv shows they watched, the toys their family collected And lots more Located at 36 Manchester Street.
