Jean Floyd - Inner Wheel Club of South Wairarapa

It was rather poignant that on the 125th anniversary of Women’s Suffrage (19th September) we remembered our dearly loved and Honoured Active member, Jean Floyd who passed peacefully away on Sunday 16th September. Jean had been a committed Inner Wheel member for many years, once being asked to be District Chair. She is yet another example of the power of women, having worked tirelessly in Inner wheel and the Greytown community. Sadly, her funeral took place on the very day she was to be remarried. As one member said,” it was the end rather than the beginning.” She is sadly missed.

June Chittenden - Inner Wheel Club of Stoke-Tahunanui

June  attended our get togethers regularly and was at our change-over just a few weeks ago.  She  has

Elizabeth Murdoch Ward - Inner Wheel Club of South Wairarapa.

Liz Ward was a quiet unassuming woman whose friendship and zest for life were known to many. Less well known were her fierce intellect, strength and knowledge of the arts, in particular, classical music.

She started her career path as a dental nurse, later working for the High Commissioner in South Africa, where she met her husband, Julian. Together they moved to New Zealand where they have lived for many years. Liz is sadly missed by the members of the Inner Wheel Club of South Wairarapa, District 294.

Sue Bourke  - Inner Wheel Club of Motueka

This tribute is on behalf of the Motueka Inner Wheel club members.

Sue was an active member since she joined Inner Wheel in 1990. Her years on the committee meant she was always willing to help in any way possible. Being a private person, she never made a fuss, and had a good sense of humour.

Sue was persuaded to take on the treasurer's position and, after some trepidation, she made a very successful job of it. She did this for a number of years. We have had Christmas celebrations at member’s homes and Sue was always keen to put her name down for dessert, so she was our Pavlova Queen. No one could make pavlova’s like Sue. It looks as if pavlova will be off the menu now.

She was proud of her girls and grandchildren and often talked to some members what they were up to. In her last weeks after coming back from their trip to China, Sue managed to knit some peggy squares in the Hospital and Hospice.  These squares will go into a blanket which will be given to an elderly person in need of warmth.

Sue passed away on August 16th 2017 and speaking on behalf of all our Inner Wheel Members, she will be greatly missed. We have lost a true and loving friend whom we loved dearly. Farewell Dear Sue.
