As we enter our new Inner Wheel year I feel that
this quote of Winston Churchill’s is very
appropriate to us all. One of the objects of Inner
Wheel is personal service and our theme for the year
HELP
bring
HOPE
is one that we can all identify with as we become
involved in our Club activities and service
projects. Inner Wheel members make a difference to
the lives of so many people who need that helping
hand to bring hope into their lives.
May 2010 is our National Conference in Invercargill,
this is a very special time for Inner Wheel New
Zealand as we celebrate 20 years since the formation
of National Council and it is the 10th
Biennial Conference. We are delighted that Anne
Fryer our International President will be joining us
at Conference. The Conference Committee is
organizing an interesting programme and I encourage
you all to make plans to attend. I can assure you
that the welcome in NZ298 will be warm and friendly
even if the weather may be cool. Southland and
Otago are wonderful areas to visit; perhaps you
could plan a Club trip to include some sightseeing
either before or after the Conference.
I look forward to my visit to your District and
meeting with you.
In Friendship
Annabelle Valentine

National President Annabelle presents Plimmerton
Inner Wheel member Pauline Lowe with her Margarette
Golding Award. The award was created to recognise
highly commendable personal service through Inner
Wheel or in the community.
This award has been given to
Pauline in recognition of the work that she and her
husband, Steve, do for the Grace Project in Hubli,
India. The Grace Project includes an orphanage,
pre-school and primary school, and also holds
training courses for women in tailoring and sewing
along with carpentry for men. |

Pauline and Steve with another

to raise and administer funding for the Project, and
they visit it annually.
Pauline now joins a very select
group of less than three hundred members around the
world who have been given this award.
